One of the last great remaining lavishly decorated movie palaces from Hollywood’s early years is located right in Torrington, CT in the Downtown Torrington Historic District. Opened in 1931 and named after the Warner Brothers chain of movie theatres, the Warner Theatre was designed by Thomas Lamb, one of the most renowned theatre architects of the 20th century and a key figure in the development of the elaborate movie palaces built nationwide between the 1910s and 1940s. This art deco landmark is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
